- As a Cloud Network Engineering Intern, you will work on real-world cloud networking projects, collaborating with global engineering teams to design, implement, and secure large-scale network infrastructure that powers Microsoft’s cloud and data center operations.
Job Description
In this role, you will help design and develop scalable and reliable network solutions, assist in network deployment and validation, participate in design and code reviews, and work on troubleshooting complex network issues. You will gain hands-on experience with automated testing, network telemetry, and large-scale network environments while contributing to sustainable and automated engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop understanding of network technologies to support network design, implementation, and operations
- Assist in designing reliable, scalable, and high-performance network components under guidance
- Support network quality assurance, validation, and review processes
- Help identify risks, bugs, and implementation issues related to connectivity, protocols, power, and telemetry
- Collaborate with engineering teams on network deployments using machine-readable definitions
Skills & Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Must have at least one semester/term remaining after completion of the internship
- Basic understanding of computer networking concepts and protocols
- Interest in cloud infrastructure, data centers, and large-scale network systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
